ASPEN, COLORADO, September 24, 2024 - — The Global Warming Mitigation Project (GWMP) team is proud to announce its participation in Climate Week NYC 2024, marking their fifth consecutive year attending this prestigious event. Hosted by Climate Group, Climate Week NYC is the largest annual climate event of its kind, uniting over 600 events and activities across New York City. The event runs from September 22-29, 2024, and takes place in partnership with the United Nations General Assembly, coordinated with both the UN and the City of New York.
Climate Week NYC brings together business leaders, political decision-makers, civil society representatives, and environmental advocates from around the globe to accelerate progress in addressing the climate crisis. "As the global call for climate action grows louder, it is crucial that we take part in these impactful conversations, forging partnerships and making meaningful connections with other climate champions,” said Jacquelyn Francis, Executive Director of the Global Warming Mitigation Project.
Jacquelyn Francis will attend several high-profile events during Climate Week NYC, including the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit as an official nominator and the XPRIZE Closing Bell Impact Reception as a Global Engineering Brain Trust Member. She will also participate in events like the Sustainable Investment Forum and the Pillars of the Green Transition Conference, hosted by The Washington Post. At these events, Jacquelyn will share her expertise on global warming mitigation, underscoring the critical role of innovation and investment in tackling the climate crisis.
In addition to attending key events, the GWMP team will host its Second Annual Laureate Celebration on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the historic Salmagundi Club in New York City. The event will gather the brilliant minds behind the Keeling Curve Prize (KCP) Laureates—visionary innovators who have been recognized for their groundbreaking work in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. This celebration will spotlight the stories and achievements of these climate trailblazers, bringing together a community dedicated to scaling solutions that mitigate global warming.
“We’re excited to celebrate the KCP laureates alongside fellow climate advocates and supporters," added Francis. "This gathering underscores our commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation within the climate space.”
