Robin Newmark

Dr. Robin L. Newmark is a non-executive Director at Montrose Environmental Group. She brings decades of experience across the energy and environment innovation ecosystem, most recently working at the intersection of technology and policy. Formerly at the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), she held several leadership positions and led programs involving energy, climate and water issues, including the interdependence of water and energy systems. She was co-Director of the Carbon Management Center, a research center of the Colorado Renewable Energy Collaboratory where she guided collaborative research efforts in carbon management. Prior to joining NREL, Dr. Newmark was at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where she focused on energy, environment, carbon management and national security, and developed an award-winning set of environmental remediation technologies. An author of over 100 papers and reports in the open literature and five patents, Dr. Newmark is a Fellow of research institutes in Colorado and California, was a lead author for the Third U.S. Climate Assessment, has served on editorial boards of technical journals, a frequent invited speaker, and advises diverse organizations, including a multinational effort developing guidelines for carbon capture and storage in China. Among her awards are the U.S. EPA’s Outstanding Remediation Technology Innovation Award and the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer Recognition Award. Dr. Newmark received a B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Phi Beta Kappa), an M.S. from the University of California at Santa Cruz, a M.Phil and a Ph.D from Columbia University.
